Example of previously located penetrations. We find everything from pin pricks to large holes to entire lap joints unwelded. 

Once a penetration is found during the test our operatives circle it and mark it with a number ascending from 0. Once the test is complete a location plan is produced on a roof plan or drawing to show the location and size of all penetrations. If required, we can then submit a quotation for their repair.

An electronic leak test machine passes a small electric current through the copper bristles of the brush head down on to the flat roof surface. When the machine finds a penetration it sparks and makes an audible sound to alert the user of the defect. The machines are so sensitive they can find a pin prick through the membrane. An electronic leak test of a flat roof is the most effective way to find every single penetration through the water proofing layer, these can then be patch repaired to ensure the roof is completely water tight. Because they find penetrations no matter how tiny they are they are considerably more effective than a visual survey. The only thing you need for a test to be conducted is adequate edge protection and a relatively dry day!
